Thématiques de recherche

I am an ambitious PhD student aiming to develop a career in research. I am currently interested in learning to develop integrative projects that approach a question from different angles to reach a robust answer. I am in the third year of my PhD, supervised by Dr. Guillermo BARRETO in the lab EPIGLYCAN. We are currently working in elucidating the epigenetic mechanisms in the development of lung diseases.

Epigenetic Transcription Regulation in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

This project aims to elucidate the role of the RNA-binding protein FUS (Fused in Sarcoma) in the pathogenesis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). We will perform integrative multi-omics analyses on primary lung fibroblasts from IPF patients and healthy donors to investigate how FUS interacts with the MiCEE complex, regulatory non-coding RNAs, histone modifications to influence expression. The functional relevance of FUS-dependent mechanisms will be validated in human precision-cut lung slices (hPCLS). Furthermore, we will explore how FUS contributes in fibrotic contexts. Together, these studies aim to define the molecular role of FUS in IPF, providing insights that may guide the development of mechanism-based therapeutic strategies.
